Task 1. General Information (10 minutes)
Using Google, search for the answers to the following questions:
1. Like England and Scotland, Wales also has a national flower. What is it?
2. Why do Welsh people wear a leek on the 1st March?
3. Wales has its own language, Welsh, which is spoken by a large number of people living in Wales. Look up the following words; what do they mean
in English?

- Sut mae
4. What is Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch? You can click on this link to practise how to pronounce it!!
5. In the space provided on the answer sheet, draw a picture of the Welsh flag.

Wales has a number of very famous traditions and customs. Below, you will find the names of some of these. On the answer sheet, explain what they
are in your own words. You can click on the names below to go to another website that will give you more information, or you can search the terms in Google.

Task 3. Imagine … (15 minutes)
Imagine you live in Wales and you have a pen friend in the Netherlands. You are going to invite him to come over and stay with you, but
instead of writing, you are going to call him.
Think about what you need to be able to say in English when you make a phone call. There is space for your ideas on the answer sheet.
Also think about the content of the phone call. You need to tell him/her what a great place Wales is, what there is to see and do, where you can
go, and so on.When you have finished your preparation, tell the teacher, who will pair you with someone else in the class, who will play your pen friend in the conversation.
